Pre-release Notice
Safeguard is currently in pre-release status. As we continue to refine and enhance this product, you may notice occasional unexpected behavior or variations in performance. Your feedback during this pre-release phase is invaluable — please share any issues or suggestions with our support team to help us deliver the best possible experience for general availability.

Overview

When a compliance rule triggers an alert, Safeguard can notify the right people on your team by email. Rather than requiring everyone to check the Compliance Alerts dashboard manually, you can configure notifications so that the relevant workspace users are informed automatically.

Notification settings let you control two things: who receives alert notifications and how frequently they are delivered. You can send immediate emails the moment an alert is triggered, or consolidate alerts into daily or weekly summaries to reduce inbox noise.

This guide walks you through accessing the notification settings and configuring recipients and delivery cadence for your workspace.

Before You Begin

Before managing notification settings, make sure you have:

  • An active Boundless workspace with a valid subscription
  • Owner role in your workspace
  • At least one compliance rule created (notifications only apply when alerts are triggered)

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Navigate to Compliance Alerts Configuration

  1. Navigate to the Safeguard Homepage
  2. Click Manage Configurations
  3. On the Configuration page, click the Compliance Alerts tab

What you’ll see:
The Compliance Alerts configuration panel displays notification settings, including recipient selection and delivery cadence options.

Step 2: Select Notification Recipients

Choose who in your workspace should receive email notifications when a compliance alert is triggered. You have two options:

Option 1: All Users

  • Select All Admins to send notifications to every user in the workspace
  • This is useful when your entire team needs visibility into configuration changes

Option 2: Selected Users

  • Select Selected Users to choose specific workspace members
  • Pick individual users from the list to receive notifications
  • This is useful when only certain team members (e.g., security leads, network administrators) need to be notified
Helpful tip: Start with a smaller group of recipients and expand later if needed. Sending alerts to the full workspace can create notification fatigue if you have many active rules.

Step 3: Set the Delivery Cadence

Choose how frequently notification emails are sent. You have three options:

Option 1: Immediate

  • An email is sent as soon as each alert is triggered
  • Best for critical rules where you need to respond to changes quickly

Option 2: Daily Summary

  • A single email summarizing all alerts from the past 24 hours is sent once per day
  • Best for teams that want regular visibility without per-alert interruptions

Option 3: Weekly Summary

  • A single email summarizing all alerts from the past 7 days is sent once per week
  • Best for rules that monitor lower-priority settings or for teams that review compliance on a weekly cadence

Option 4: No Email

  • No email is sent. Alerts will only be displayed on the platform.

Important: Notification settings apply to all compliance rules in the organization. You cannot set different cadences or recipients for individual rules.

Best Practices

For choosing recipients:

  • Assign notifications to the people directly responsible for investigating and responding to configuration changes
  • Review your recipient list when team members join or leave the organization to keep it current
  • Use “All Users” for smaller teams and “Selected Users” for larger workspaces where only a subset of users manages compliance

For choosing cadence:

  • Use Immediate for rules that monitor security-critical settings where rapid response matters
  • Use Daily Summary as a balanced default for most teams, keeping everyone informed without overwhelming inboxes
  • Use Weekly Summary for organizations with low change frequency or when compliance reviews happen on a weekly schedule
  • If you find immediate notifications too noisy, switch to daily summaries rather than disabling notifications entirely

Common Questions

Q: Can I set different notification preferences for different rules?
A: No. Notification settings apply across all compliance rules for every organization in the workspace. All triggered alerts follow the same recipient and cadence configuration.

Q: Do paused rules send notifications?
A: No. Paused rules do not trigger alerts, so no notifications are sent. Notifications resume when the rule is activated and a matching change is detected.

Q: When are daily and weekly summary emails sent?
A: Summary emails are sent at a fixed time. If no alerts were triggered during the summary period, an email is still sent.

Q: Can workspace users opt out of notifications individually?
A: No. Notification recipients are managed centrally from the Configuration page. Individual users cannot opt in or out on their own.
